5-21-08 What a busy weekend. Friday night the16th, my youngest son Kevin, graduated
from High School. They had a Friday night graduation ceremony and @ 9 pm I hopped into
the Expedition and headed for Putman. Around 1am in the morning I finally arrived at the
hotel. Patti didn't come with me this time as her work schedule didn't permit. I lost an hour
heading east so it was really 2am. By the time I got to bed at 3, I had only 3 hours of sleep.
Getting up at 6 am made for a very long day. We had the spacers on the car and they
worked out beautifully. I instructed both Sat and Sun hopping in and out of cars both days
and gave ride alongs too. On Sun I hopped on track with the HPDE group 1 and did follow
the leader several times. I made a camera mount and it worked out somewhat. The camera
still stopped recording but I was able to get some video. I'll have to keep on working on it.

Now for the good news. We took 3rd place both Sat and Sun! We also lowered the car 3/8
front and 1/2 rear along with the spacers to increase track width. The new tires helped too.
Maybe by next race we'll have the wider rims.

This first vid is Sat, the very first warm-up laps. The times don't count it's just for
practice. The GTO felt very loose at first. The tires are new and the mold release
compound on the tires needs to be wore off. As this session goes on the tires get
more bite and the car feels very stable. The wider 255's and 1'' spacer up front
along with the -3.5* camber help to all but eliminate the pushing in the GTO.

This vid is from Sun. I'm going out with the HPDE 1 to play follow the leader. I'll get
in front of a student and run the line so they can follow. The speed isn't very fast as
most of the students haven't been on this track before and are running on street
tires. I also have a student in the car with me from HPDE 2 so he can learn the track
better.
