8-4-07 Most of you know that we've been running #157 on the car. Someone
already had this number. It's no big deal, it's only a number. We're hoping to
get #137 as our permanent one. Notice Kevin in the car with me? He was very
excited to ride along. After we got off the track from our first run, the officials
told me that because Kevin was only 17 he wouldn't be allowed to ride in the
car. Kevin was bummed!! After some digging, we found out the age for a ride
along was 16 and above, so it was OK for Kevin to be in the car. He had a
better day after finding this out. Our fastest time on Saturday was when Kevin
was with me, we had the A/C on and I had the spare in the trunk that I'd
forgotten to remove plus 3/4 of a tank of gas. Sunday we had rain on and off for
the entire day. It's fun to find the limits on a wet track, once you get used to it.

In the second session on Sat. I heard a noise and thought we ran over
something. In the pits we looked over the car and found what I thought to be
some cording off a tire that I'd ran over on track. We found more and more
under the hood. We checked the front tires, but they were OK. We kept looking
and discovered that the belt was shredding. After talking to some local folks to
find out where the parts stores were located, we headed into town to find a
replacement belt. The fifth store that we stopped at didn't have it either but they
did have one that was 1/2'' longer, so we took it in hopes that the tensioner
would take up the extra slack. We installed the new belt and it seemed to work
just fine as I kept an eye on the temp. guage all weekend long.

In the third session on Sat. we noticed that the left front tire was chunking on the
edge and broken steel belts were showing. Luckily I had a spare tire.

Skip Barber Racing were there with their open wheel Mazda powered cars. It was
cool watching these guys go at it.

There were a few cars that kissed the walls. As always it saddens me to see this
happen. It could happen to anyone at anytime when your on the track.
